Below are some plates from The Image of Irelande, by John Derrick which was published in London in 1581. Like a strip cartoon, the plates tell the story of the subjugation of the Irish rebels by Sir Henry Sidney, Lord-Deputy of Ireland under Queen Elizabeth. While the subject matter is propaganda in nature, it's also a good source for all manner of information on what people wore and especially from a military perspective.
