Napoleonic Elvis?

OK, I'm kind of reaching on this one but for some reason the French General Joachim Murat has always reminded me of a Napoleonic Era version of Elvis Presley...maybe it's the flamboyant lifestyle, the loss of excess or who knows what (or perhaps the glitzy outfits and high collars)...and like Elvis, he died in the prime of life...

there is an uncanny resemblance. admit it, men love to dress up in glitzy outfits too ;-)

all i can say is i'm glad we're past those odd periods in history where men wore odd stuff like fancy wigs, makeup and high heels. well, i guess some still do, but that's a whole other issue!

It's amazing- the Napoleonic Era was definitely one for glitz but underneath all of that, Murat was all business- if you needed a cavalry charge to succeed and succeed BIG, Murat's your guy. Unfortunately, Murat was not too great of a politician and made many bad choices...
